This is a great book that helps students understand how some ideas stick and other do not. This is a great read, my school faculty read the book and I now have my students read this book.
Marketing Defined
The approved definition of marketing is "the activity, set of institutions, and processes for creating, communicating, delivering, and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners, and society at large." (AMA, 2013). With this definition, it is important to note that the customer, whether a "client, partner or society at large" (is at the center of all marketing activities (AMA, 2013).
One of my most recent purchases was for an automobile that would fit my family and the budget that I was on. I went to several websites to find information, safety ratings, and customer satisfaction concerning my top three vehicles. As I looked through the customer ratings and the functionality of this particular automobile I was impressed with the overall satisfaction that came from customers. I believe manufacturers have to put themselves in the customer shoes to understand what customers want especially in the automobile industry. That is why you’re seeing several different concepts of automobiles in today’s market.
In today’s market customers demand excellent customer service. No matter who is on the other end the customer wants action immediately. In most cases today you have a seven in ten chance to receive a customer satisfaction survey after contact is made. Here are examples of questions that might be asked after speaking to a customer service representative. How well did the representative answer your questions? Did the representative provide excellent customer service? How well would you rate this representative knowledge of the products we offered? Would you recommend our products goods or services to others? These are just some of the questions that you might get asked to help improve the customer experience and target customer need.
