DoD Program
The DoD Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is a partnership between the USDA and Department of Defense (DoD) and provides a variety of high quality, US-grown produce. It began in SY 1996 as a pilot program to supply fresh produce directly to schools along with military installations. In SY 2015, schools received more than $150 million dollars worth of produce.
The program allows SFAs to bring in weekly produce orders. Seasonal catalogs are updated weekly and the October catalog provides 30+ food items, with 75+ total options.
