Based on what you've learned about Sun, Moon, and Earth, CREATE your own moon and planet orbit patterns.
- First, name your planet, and describe the number of days it takes to orbit the sun.
- Remember, the longer it takes to orbit the sun, the farther away from the sun it will be. The shorter it takes for the planet to orbit the sun, the closer it is to the sun.
-
With this in mind, explain the climate on your planet. What kind of life lives on your planet?
- Then, think about your Moon. Explain, how long does the moon take to orbit your planet?
-
What is different about the way your moon orbits your new planet compared to the way the moon orbits around Earth?

3.SCI.1
In this unit, students will understand that the shape of the Earth and the moon are spherical and that Earth rotates on its axis to produce the appearance of the sun and moon moving through the sky.
Objective 1
Describe the appearance of the Earth and the moon.
Objective 2
Describe the movement of the Earth and the moon and the apparent movement of other bodies through the sky.
